Sports Nutrition for You & Your Dog 2

This book focuses on sports nutrition for you and your dog, but can also help as a general dietary guide. Although nutrition play a big part in you and your dogs’ exercise program, you and your pet will have different dietary needs. Humans and canines that are sedate have different dietary needs than those who are athletic. For example, we are both omnivores (eat meat and plant material and require 5 life-sustaining nutrients: Protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, minerals and water, but we may absorb those nutrients differently.
For example, in humans low intense exercise relies primarily on fat, whereas high intense exercise primarily utilizes carbohydrates. The more fit an individual, the more they utilize fats over carbohydrates. On the other hand, “the nutrients that supply energy for exercise for canines come from primarily fat, carbohydrates and ‘lastly’ protein.
