ABOUT THIS SITE / MY STORY

To this date in 2023 I am continuing with education, resources and research on this free website and am continuing my education to eventaully add on  Small Animal rehab. Currently enrolled in the Certified Companion Animal Rehabilition Therapist (CCAT) program through NC State

Lost Temple Fitness is the hub of my other websites, but can be found information on human fitness, nutrition, anatomy and exercise.  This also includes book and exercise information on diseases including cardiac, respiratory, diabetes, arthritis, MS, lupus and fibromyalgia.

Lost Temple Fitness & Cancer has information on several types of cancer, as well as treatments and exercise precautions. (Upcoming: Canine and Cancer)

Lost Temple Pets includes pet guides to help you pick the perfect pet, as well as canine sports and small animal fitness. (Upcoming: Rehab).

See my journey below:

My journey began in 1996, about 27 years ago, when I received an associates degree in physical therapy, as well as becoming a certified personal trainer through ACE.  I have worked in this field in short term rehab for about 14 years, and currently in home care for over 12 years.

I have a love for animals, so started with a website, Lost Temple Pets, and books on companion animals in 2008 and then fitness and canine sports in 2010. (see last paragraph).

In 2017 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  After going through a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, I realized how little general information regarding exercise precautions and benefits was out there for not only patients, but also for personal trainers and physical therapists on cancer and exercise, as well as other diagnosis, such as lymphedema, diabetes, cardiac and pulmonary disease and arthritis.

During my treatments, with the help of my husband as my model, I started a book on home exercise programs that are easy for individuals to follow with over 500 pictures and information on balance, core stabilization, upper extremity strengthening, lower extremity strengthening, flexibility, and myofascial release, as well as nutrition.  Separate books with additions to the Home Exercise Guides were started with information on various diseases in relation to exercise precautions and benefits, including diabetes, cancer, respiratory and cardiac disease.   I am including free PDFs on the Lost Temple Fitness website, as well as starting a YouTube channel with presentations on various diseases, and links to other beneficial information/videos.

I have had many different animals throughout my life and in 2005 decided to breed Bengal cats, where the name of the company started, Lost Temple Bengals.  Although short lived, as I had trouble letting the kittens go, it confirmed my passion for animals. I have had 5 bengal cats in my home until November 2022, when I lost my last cat (lost 3 to cancer and 2 to heart disease).  This gave me a ‘lot” of hands on education regarding feline behavior. I also have or have had many reptiles, small animals, finches and dogs over the years.  I started research on the differences of several breeds including cats, dogs, reptiles, rabbits, etc., and started the website, Lost Temple Pets and Companion Pet Guidebooks in 2008.  A few years later, I took several courses such as Canine Rehabilitation through the University of TN, and Canine Fitness through Companion Animal Sciences Institute and started research on canine sports and rehab.  Lost Temple Pets is currently being re-vamped (2023) including information from previous books, such as Sports & Activities for you and your Dog and my companion animal guides.

To this date in 2023 I am continuing to provide education, resources & research and continuing my education to eventaully add on on  Small Animal Rehab.
